David Wroth is Vice President, Technology & Operations for UL Standards & Engagement, where he leads teams, systems, and operating capabilities that enable ULSE to collaborate on, publish, distribute, and amplify standards and safety information worldwide. Across a 40-year career spanning the private sector and U.S. military service, David has focused on a consistent mission: using technology, data, and disciplined execution to help keep people safe. He leads ULSE’s Thermal Runaway Incident Program (TRIP), a secure, voluntary aviation safety initiative that aggregates and analyzes lithium battery incident data to improve understanding of risk and support practical mitigation strategies. David was instrumental in building ULSE’s data science capability, including the use of machine learning and natural language processing to extract insights from complex safety data. He also served on the U.S. Department of Transportation Lithium Battery Aviation Safety Advisory Committee, chairing its Data Collection and Analysis Subcommittee. Earlier in his career, he led technology transformation, IT operations, program management, and engineering initiatives, including work in the nuclear power industry and enterprise services supporting thousands of employees across North America. David holds an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Purdue University.
