Capt. Jim Webb is the vice president of Flight Operations for Boeing Test & Evaluation and company chief test pilot. He provides operational leadership and business oversight of all flight operations, including developmental and production flight tests of Boeing commercial airplanes and military aircraft. The teams in his organization also support aircrew operations in areas including flight training, cabin safety, regulatory affairs, and engagement with customer aircrews. In addition, he serves a s the skill team captain for pilots across the enterprise.

Webb is a fully qualified Engineering Unit Member (E-UM), finding certification compliance on transport category aircraft for the Federal Aviation Administration. He is also qualified to conduct production, developmental, and certification ground and flight testing for the Boeing 737, 747, 767, 777, and 787 and is a qualified safety and photo chase pilot in the CT-133 aircraft.

Prior to his current role, Webb served as the Commercial Airplanes chief pilot and led the production and development flight test activities for all Boeing commercial airplanes in Seattle, WA and Charleston, SC.

Webb is a retired U.S. Navy F/A-18 pilot and graduate of the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School in Patuxent River, Md. He has amassed more than 7,500 flight hours in 37 different aircraft, including over 4,000 hours in the F/A-18 A thru F models and 662 carrier arrested landings.

Webb earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Auburn University, a Master of Arts degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
