Mitch Fox is the Director of the Flight Safety Foundation’s Asia Pacific Centre for Aviation Safety. As the Director he is responsible for leading various initiatives focussing on strengthening aviation safety across the Asia Pacific Region. The first projects that the Centre completed during 2023 was a study on Safety Culture Leadership in the airline industry and an in-depth regional safety assessment. During 2025, the Centre also completed studies on the implementation of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training and Flight Path Management training and operational procedures.

Mitch has an over 45 year career in civil aviation. Prior to joining the Flight Safety Foundation, Mitch was a member of the Secretariat of the International Civil Aviation Organization. He served in various executive level capacities during his nearly 30-year career with ICAO including Chief of Operational Safety and Chief of Strategic Planning and Regional Affairs Coordination. Prior to joining ICAO, Mitch was a flight crew member for a major airline, as well as Director of Air Carrier Training. Mitch is a graduate of Purdue University in the United States. He also holds and Honorary Doctorate from the National Aviation University of Ukraine. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot License with several type ratings and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
