Hotel Name: Hilton McLean Tysons Corner

Training Course Description

The LAST class equips ALPA safety representatives with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills needed to assure safety excellence within their airlines. This advanced program builds FAST and IST foundations to prepare participants for all roles in airline safety programs.

The curriculum focuses on mastering safety data integration across voluntary programs like ASAP, FOQA, LOSA, and fatigue reporting to create a comprehensive risk picture. Participants develop advanced risk management and hazard identification techniques, while learning to strategically implement safety programs aligned with FAA, Transport Canada, and ICAO standards - while maintaining ALPA's core safety principles.

Through hands-on learning, pilots engage in real-world case studies analyzing risk management scenarios, mock Event Review Committee sessions for ASAP reports, and interactive FOQA exercises. The course features collaborative problem-solving through group safety risk assessments that simulate actual airline SRAs, giving safety representatives practical experience in program implementation and management.

Graduates of LAST leave with the ability to lead effective safety programs at their airlines, implement best practices aligned with regulatory requirements, and drive positive safety culture change. They develop expertise in integrating multiple data streams for enhanced risk analysis, and in applying ALPA's strategic safety priorities within each of their carriers. Industry experts participate throughout the course, sharing insights on current challenges and opportunities in aviation safety. This interactive environment ensures ALPA safety representatives stay at the forefront of industry developments while maintaining our unwavering commitment to protecting pilot safety and advancing ALPA's safety mission.
