Captain Josh Assayag currently serves as the Managing Director – Flight Standards for United Airlines. He is also a Captain on the Boeing 757 and 767 fleets. Prior to his current role, Josh was the Director of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot at Denver International Airport.

Since joining United Airlines in 2008, Josh has contributed to several key initiatives and served in leadership roles with United Airlines and ALPA, Int’l at both the MEC and National level. During his career at United, he has flown the 737, 757, 767, and 787, while being based in EWR, IAH, LAX, SFO, and DEN. Before joining United, he flew the ATR-42, ATR-72, and EMB-145 at a regional carrier for four years.

In addition to his commercial aviation career, Josh is a drill-status Guardsman in the California Air National Guard, currently serving as the Deputy Wing Commander for the 163d Attack Wing at March Air Reserve Base. In this role, he leads 950 Airmen in delivering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities to combatant commanders in support of global operations. Over his 21-year military career in both the Air Force Reserve and California Air National Guard, Josh has flown the C-17, MQ-1, and MQ-9, and has commanded at both the squadron and group levels across mobility, attack, and intelligence missions.

A native of Orange County, California, Josh holds a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master’s degree in Operational Warfare from the Air Force's Air University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education from Oklahoma State University in Air and Space Education.
