Technology, including wearables such as smart watches and activity tracking rings or bracelets, AI, and digital health platforms, has provided the general public with a way to monitor various metrics and in some cases purport to help manage an individual’s health. Wearables track physiological markers like stress, heart rate variability and sleep patterns, while AI analyzes behavioral data for early signs of mental stress or physical fatigue. These technologies offer real-time monitoring and increased accessibility to physical and mental health support. However, concerns about privacy, data accuracy, mandatory use, and ethical considerations remain. Over-reliance on technology also risks diminishing the human aspect of health care. In the panel “Mental Health and Medical Technology: Wearables, Data, and Ethical Dilemmas” these as well as other issues will be debated and discussed including generational differences and maintaining a human centered approach in a technology-focused world.
